Jose Maria L. Villareal
Vice President

Atty. Jose Maria L. Villareal is currently the Officer-in-Charge of the Legal Services Group (LSG) of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

Prior to this role, he served as DBP’s Chief Compliance Officer from his appointment in September 2021, with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas confirmation of appointment in January 2022, until January 1, 2024.

He joined the Bank in 1995 as a Litigation Lawyer and rose to head the Bank’s Litigation Unit in 2013. From January 2019 up to his appointment as Head of Compliance Management Group, he served as Head of the Bank’s Documentation, Opinion, and Research Department in LSG.

Atty. Villareal obtained his law degree from San Sebastian College Manila and his bachelor’s degree with a major in Philosophy from St. Francis de Sales Major Seminary, Lipa City.
