DBP Share-A-Gift project brings cheer to kids at street children facility

February 2, 2018September 10, 2019 · News

DBP recently reached out to beneficiary street children of the Haven for Children facility in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.President and Chief Executive Officer Cecilia C. Borromeo led Bank officers and staff in turning over the Bank’s donations under the DBP Share-A-Gift outreach project, which included mattresses, blankets and pillow cases. The Bank also turned over gift items contributed by officers and employees consisting of clothes, underwear, educational toys, stuff toys, personal hygiene products, slippers and shoes for the children.

Established in 2004 by the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region in collaboration with the Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc., the Haven for Children houses male street children, ages 7 to 13, who are recovering from substance abuse.

The activity comes on the heels of the Bank’s participation in the “Bukas Palad Para Sa Marawi” spearheaded by the Mothers for Peace (M4P) Movement to help families displaced by the war in Marawi City. DBP branches in Davao, Digos, Mati, Tagum and Malaybalay served as drop-off points for donations from DBP clients and friends. DBP turned over sacks of rice, boxes of sardines, canned goods, noodles, biscuits and non-food items which went a long way in alleviating the plight of the displaced families.

DBP was thus acknowledged as a sponsor of the Marawi charity initiative jointly organized by the M4P Movement, Du30 Cabinet Spouses Association, Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. and the Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc.
