State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has granted funding assistance to the Zamboanga del Sur II Electric Cooperative (ZAMSURECO II) for the improvement of its services in Zamboanga Sibugay and neighboring provinces.
DBP president & chief executive officer Francisco F. Del Rosario, Jr. said DBP approved a P23.7-million term loan to the electric cooperative for the upgrading and rehabilitation of the Sta. Barbara substation. The project will reduce the loading capacity of the Sta. Barbara substation from 120% to 52%, well within the acceptable standard set by the National Electrification Administration. It will result to the reduction of technical systems loss and enable ZAMSURECO II to serve more industrial consumers and serve potential additional service connections in its coverage area.
DBP also extended a P25-million omnibus line to the cooperative to improve its operational efficiency.
ZAMSURECO II is the sole power provider for the entire province of Zamboanga Sibugay. It also serves four municipalities in Zambuanga del Norte, three municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur, and the Vitali district in Zamboanga City.
