State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Valenzuela City recently signed an agreement that will allow residents of the city to pay fees for various services by using ATM and locally or internationally issued VISA cards.

Under the Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) signed by the two parties, DBP shall enable the LGU to accept ATM and Visa (debit, prepaid or credit) cards through the use of Point-of-Sale terminals for over-the-counter transactions.  The Valenzuela city government will also start accepting card payments online for real property taxes via the bank’s internet payment gateway.

The project will provide a quick, convenient and secure mode of payment of fees for services provided by the local government and consequently improve the LGU’s services to its residents.
