Ma. Cristina C. Malab
First Vice President

Atty. Ma. Cristina C. Malab is the Chief of Staff of the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Mr. Emmanuel G. Herbosa. She first joined DBP as Chief of Staff of former DBP President, now Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) President, Cecile C. Borromeo in January 2018. Aside from her functions as Chief of Staff, she also supervises the Security Services Department (SSD) and, at one time, also headed the Congenerics Affairs Unit (CAU). She also sits either as member or resource person in various Bank Committees, such as the Management Committee, Organization Review Committee, Promotion and Selection Board I, Change Management Team, Union-Management Consultative Committee and Canteen Committee.

While studying law, Atty. Malab started government service in January 1991 as Budget Officer at LBP. Her career in LBP spanned a good twenty-six (26) years which saw her moving to the Banking Legal Office, Legal Services Group after passing the 1994 BAR Examinations. She was then tapped to head the Special Assets Department and, later, the Administrative Legal Department (ALD). Atty. Malab was appointed LBP Administrator in the dissolution of the People’s Credit and Finance Corporation (PCFC) and National Livelihood Development Corporation (NLDC). She also served as President of the LBP-Middle Management Officers Association for ten (10) years and as member of the LBP-Provident Fund Board of Trustees representing the middle management /junior officers.

A CPA-Lawyer, Atty. Malab obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the Far Eastern University (FEU) and her degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – major in Accounting from the University of the East. She also completed the Leadership Development Program (LDP) in Ateneo Graduate School of Studies and Leadership Development (LEAD) by John Clements Leadership Institute (JCLI).
