DBP inaugurated recently its new Mandaue branch office located at Bridges Town Square, Plaridel Street, Mandaue City as part of its efforts to better serve its clients and development partners in Cebu province.
DBP chief operating officer Edgardo F. Garcia and Mandaue City mayor Jonas Cortes led the simple ceremonies that also highlighted DBP’s continuing development initiatives in the city of Mandaue and the province of Cebu.
“We are re-affirming our commitment to support the continued growth of your area. Given Mandaue’s strategic location within the Cebu Metropolitan area, we see our sustained partnership as key to creating more development opportunities,” Garcia said in his remarks. “And this partnership should also serve well to spread more growth not only in your city but also in surrounding communities -- including the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Danao, as well as the municipalities in the northern part of Cebu province.”
Garcia said DBP Cebu branch has been instrumental in assisting several key initiatives in the province of Cebu, particularly various developmental projects of the local government including the logistics components of the city’s solid waste management facility, public market, and road-widening initiatives. Other DBP-assisted projects in the area include export, domestic shipping and logistics, manufacturing, real estate, construction; as well as a bulk water supply initiative.
He also added that the bank’s strengthened resolve to spur more growth across the regions is best represented in its enhanced campaign as a responsive, vibrant, dynamic, and transformational development financing institution.
“Perhaps the most obvious proof that we have taken on a strengthened stance to work for development is our efforts to make banking with DBP more responsive and convenient to our partners and clients,” he explained.
Garcia said the bank hopes to build up its portfolio in Mandaue, citing the vast potential of the city and its reputation as the furniture capital of the country that accounts for 75% of the country’s total exports in the furniture sector.
He said DBP is setting its sights on supporting more initiatives in infrastructure, health services; education; the environment such as materials recovery facilities and the construction of sanitary landfills; tourism; social services; and micro, small and medium enterprises.
Mandaue City vice mayor Glenn Bercede, mayor Jonas Cortes, DBP Mandaue branch manager Lilian Rosales, DBP director Ramon Durano IV, and DBP chief operating officer Edgardo Garcia lead the ribbon-cutting ceremonies during the inauguration of the new DBP Mandaue branch office.
